Confirmation Confirmation preparation in our parish begins after the reception of First Communion, when the young people enter into their Apprenticeship Covenant. This covenant experience introduces the children to the various ministries taking place in our parish. They are encouraged to choose a ministry and become consistently involved it it, such as altar serving, greeters and hospitality ministers, etc. During the 8th grade year, Confirmation candidates and their families attend several family sessions to study the Rite of Confirmation and its meaning. Sponsors also work with the candidates to complete an Apprenticeship Booklet, which explores the components of Discipleship. Confirmation will be celebrated in the Spring. R.C.I.A. Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults The Rite of Christian Initiation is a faith conversion process. Unbaptized adults wishing to become Catholic begin their journey with a time of inquiry. During the catechumenate phase of their preparation, participants are dismissed from Mass after the Homily to meditate on the Scripture readings with the RCIA team. Sponsors join the group for the catechetical sessions, which focus on teachings and particular issues in the Catholic Church. During Lent the participants begin more intense spiritual preparation, including a retreat, for their upcoming celebration of Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion. The initiation sacraments are most generally celebrated at the Easter Vigil (Holy Saturday) and followed by a parish reception. Our Pastoral Minister and her team of catechists direct the process. Call the parish office if you would be interested in taking part in this process as a candidate, sponsor or catechist.
