Infant Baptism Preparation Parents wishing to have a child under the age of 7 baptized at Sacred Heart need to schedule a home visit with a "metor" couple in our parish. After the home visit, parents need to attend a preparation session. During the session parents discuss the responsibility involved in having a child baptized and share ideas on living out their commitment to raise their children in the Catholic faith. At the conclusion of the Session a priest begins the Rite of Baptism by anointing each child with the oil of salvation. The Rite is concluded when Baptisms are celebrated during weekend Masses. For more information call or e-mail Tammy Norcross, Pastoral Minister.
R.C.I.A. Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
The Rite of Christian Initiation is a faith conversion process. Unbaptized adults wishing to become Catholic begin their journey with a time of inquiry. During the catechumenate phase of their preparation, participants are dismissed from Mass after the Homily to meditate on the Scripture readings with the RCIA team. Sponsors join the group for the catechetical sessions, which focus on teachings and particular issues in the Catholic Church. During Lent the participants begin more intense spiritual preparation, including a retreat, for their upcoming celebration of Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion. The initiation sacraments are most generally celebrated at the Easter Vigil (Holy Saturday) and followed by a parish reception. Our Pastoral Minister and her team of catechists direct the process. Call the parish office if you would be interested in taking part in this process as a candidate, sponsor or catechist.
